The 5 Best Custom Box Ideas For Birthday Gifts

As the furious gust of winds puffed and thumped wrathfully on our frost covered windows, it rained cats and dogs, as if hurled angrily from the skies, and the splattering, sloshing sound of the rain and thunder soaked our house, washing it away. I had decided to stay at home and enjoy an indoor day, hidden steadily in my woody treehouse in the cloistered city of Newcastle. We dwelled in the heart of a thick forest, and since it was my little girl’s birthday, I was exasperating at the continual outpour of the rain and my helplessness at not being able to go out was really freaking me out, until an idea that struck me like the bolt of the bedeviling lightning infuriating drubbing on our little homestead.

I combed the garret for the worn out little trinkets, the wisps of old laces, glittering cardboard paper, ruffled layers of old paper which were thinner than the slices of calloused onions and a lot of other dwindling articles, slumbering away in the old, lofty garret. Since I hadn’t been able to go out and get her gifts packed beautifully like little surprises, I decided to do them myself from whatever was obtainable at our place. The lustrous stars of the nightfall had started gleaming like lanterns and there were just a few hours left till the little princess would wake up and find the birthday gifts heaped next to her little dolly bed. Since the two of us loved fairytales and everything about fairytales, from chateau castles, diamond tiaras and the dazzling magical wands, we loved to cloak our little cottage with all the enchanted melodies, fantasizing to be like real fairy folks!

The birthday gifts had to be packaged beautifully, and to do that, I really needed some unique gift boxes, just like some custom box manufacturers would sell fancily in the plushest of shopping malls. I explored a few vintage inspired ideas and, let me share the inspirations I found on Pinterest to help me create the finest birthday boxes from old stuff lying at home.

The Vintage Lace Birthday Box

I took old cardboard boxes, covered them using old brown paper and little pieces of vintage laces from my grandma’s apron. I covered the box, as I tried to imitate these birthday boxes. I used old pages from my childhood’s coloring books and fashionably covered the boxes, making them wear little skirts of laces like old petticoats of the English maidens. To tie up the gifts, I used gaudily colored pink laces from my old Estella tea gowns and there it was, one of the most beautiful gifts bundled to stir any little girl’s brew of imagination.

The Little Teapot Chocolate Favor

I loved this little teapot inspired favor box to create my own gift favor for the birthday tea. I packed some of her favorite chocolates and used a piece of ivory colored lace to tie up the box. Looks remarkably dreamy, isn’t it?

The Magical Horse Carousel Box

Inspired by this picture, I created a marvelous magical horse carousel, using oodles of glittery golden glue to impart the glistening effect, like the charmed horse of a fantastical circus! Children love the ideas of magical horses and they always play a great role in the most wondrous fairytales, isn’t it?

The Parisian Way

If your little one seems to be particularly Parisian in her ways, simply gift her this gift box blended with the striped pink and black boxes and tie it up with some exquisite silk ribbons to hint a girlish apparel just like the Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture!
